The board of owners and staff members

Mazarrón Country Club has a Board, elected by the owners, to look after the interests of the Community ensuring that all communal areas are looked after including waste water treatment, security and cameras, rubbish collection, street lighting, gardening and general upkeep of the Urbanisation.

It is worth noting that under Spanish Law, If no one volunteers to be President, someone can be assigned to serve based on a rotation of the owners or based on a rotation by lot number. In practice, if there are no volunteers, one property will be chosen by lottery to begin the rotation and the decided upon order will be followed thereafter.

The community has two paid staff members and contracts others when needed.

President

Started bricklaying apprenticeship in 1977 completed in 1980 with city & guilds and advanced craft in brickwork. Went on to run bricklaying gangs in refurbishment operations and new build projects. Went back to college in 1987 to complete my O.N.C in building construction and the on to complete my H.N.C in building construction at Birmingham polytechnic (now Birmingham University). I then moved in to a building inspectors’ job, for Birmingham city engineer’s department. In 1992 I was offered a contracts managers job in the building and civil engineering sector, as I had always been interested in this sector, I took this position and over the 10 years with this company we went from 375k a year to 8 million. And I moved up to project manager. In 2002 I moved to a competitor for a more attractive package as project manager. I worked here for 3 years until 2005 when my wife and I purchased a country pub/ restaurant which we ran for 17 years until we moved to our life in Spain.

Vice President

I am British. I have lived on MCC for a number of years, joining the Board over 5 years ago. I took on the role of vice president to provide support to the current president. There is a lot of work done by the Board and President which is carried out in the background which I felt I could assist with. The work I do on the Board is very much finance, and problems. I come from a banking background with over 33 years experience in finance. I enjoy the work the Board does and find it interesting

Secretary

Bernard West moved to Spain with his wife in 2018, after retiring from a 38 year career at National Westminster Bank. In 2020 they purchased a home on Mazarron Country Club. Bernard feels he could make a contribution to the urbanisation by providing secretarial/admin support to the Board. His career was at branch level, where he focused on providing excellent customer & financial services and the management of the branch staff. He enjoys socialising, playing golf, travelling, watching football and he volunteers weekly at a local charity.

Treasurer

In 2018 my wife and I moved to Spain and have lived since that time at the Mazarron Country Club. As there was a position as treasurer and I wanted to become active for the community I applied for this position and was appointed in 2019 by the agm. As treasurer I keep the books, manage the community fees and invoices. Also I am the system administrator of the computer program we use to manage the urbanizacion. As a board member I try to keep improving the urbanizacion for all that own property here.

Board member / waste and gardens

I am an ex HGV Tanker driver. I retired early and moved to Spain in 2008 to MCC. I joined the board approx 10 years ago under the then president Barry Smith, who gave me the role of Gardening & Waste. All the roles were a new venture back then and we all learned as we went along. I enjoy my role and have a good rapport with the garden and waste company MCC use. I consider I get along well with all board members plus Aitor, our site manager, who is always available when I need him.

Leo Noordermeer

Board member / Safety and Security

I am Dutch. In 2013 we settled permanently in Spain, and I became a member of the CoO board. My availability for the CoO board is a matter of principle for me. Letting others do the work while I'm standing on the sidelines, watching, is not an option. With my experience in aviation, I try to contribute to solving problems and to initiate improvements, for the benefit of all owners.

I served in the armed forces and on leaving found myself doing some landscape gardening, attending Hadlow College in Kent and gaining certificates in Horticulture. I worked mainly on larger jobs ideally housing developments and actually won London in Bloom and a merit award. I also worked on highways work where new roads were constructed which was the A 20 that ran through to Dover port. My career then took me to policing where I spent 25 years full time as a police officer. I started my service on general patrol where I found myself responding to all manner of calls from incidents within the home, road traffic incidents and incidents that occur in public. I moved into community policing where I worked with the community on all manner of projects within their area with the hope of reducing crime. I worked with our architecture liaison officer and between us we would make efforts to design out crime, by this I mean look at physical infrastructure and see what changes could be made to buildings, gardens, roads etc to make them less vulnerable to crime. I also offered crime reduction advice to home owners and business. I would execute warrants where necessary to premises involved in drugs with many seizures of both class A and class B drugs. Following on from this I moved into crime investigation looking at everything from shop theft to fraud, damage to burglary, carrying out interviews with an eventual outcome of a prosecution. I retired from policing last March at 59 years of age as my age restricted me from much more service.

Jose Victor Campuzano de Paco

Board member

My name is Víctor, I am owner in CC since 2009 although, I had to go out, and I have been renting my house last years. I ?m here again and like years ago, I would like to participate and collaborate with the community to live in a better place for everybody. I am 47 years old, and I have 3 children. They don’t live with me, but they come here two weekends at the months, and my two daughters (whose mother is from England), come some days during the week, obviously they speak English better than me, so I would like to improve my English. I have finished some of my studies at University Polytechnics of Cartagena like a Naval Engineer and I get my Certificated of Patrón de Altura of Merchant Navy, at Integrated center of Vocational Training, Hespérides Cartagena, where I currently work as a teacher the last 7 years. I have been teaching in High schools as a Technology teacher about 13 years previously. I would be happy to participate in anything that I can help in the community.

My name is Ernesta Virbickyt?, I am 28 years old, and I am running for our community board with a sincere desire to contribute to the well-being of our neighborhood. I believe that a strong, friendly, and united community is built on trust, support, and open communication. About Me I have experience in administration, human resources, and community management, having worked in both Lithuania and Paris. I also run a small business, which has given me valuable skills in financial planning and organization. However, what I value most is my volunteer work—helping seniors, organizing community events, and supporting those in need. Currently, I am also studying psychotherapy, which strengthens my ability to listen, understand, and unite people. I am responsible, warm, and always ready to listen. I want our neighborhood to be a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and truly at home. If you trust me with your vote, I will dedicate my time and energy to making our community stronger, more connected, and more vibrant. Let’s build a better neighborhood together!
